All of this shit had me going into a depression spiral earlier. I went to lay down and I felt like crying my eyes out. My husband comforted me and I felt a little better. Friday, I spent the evening with my sisters by going out to dinner and we had fun. Saturday, my husband and I went out to dinner with friends to celebrate a birthday. Today, I did nothing.
Tell me about it. I was pretty upset on Sunday, though cleared my head with a walk up a nearby mountain/hill in the afternoon. I couldn't sleep, though, and kept waking up to see if anyone said anything stupid in the other timezone. My classes were shot today.
But that's the good news, this past week i started Chinese lessons and i have settled down in this town. It's nice to have a bit of a routine again after traveling about randomly for the past few months.
Ugh, ETA what i originally wanted to write before my sleep-deprived ass got sidetracked, which was: i am glad you had someone there for you.
Going out for a walk is a good idea but its so hot here that its not an option, at least, for the rest of the season. Ugh. Thanks, bb and I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, too. =)
well my weekend started out by being called "like so fucking rude, like all the time" by the backroom coordinator for calling out his bullshit (he and the other morons were defending the anti diversity douche)
meh, the manager-on-duty doesn't give a shit what he thinks. I'm untouchable in that respect. and I don't care what some 20 year old guy thinks, not since I was 20, especially a 20-year-old who's dating a girl who only just graduated from high-school.
Like - I am all for people who assaulted and caused harm to face justice but justice is not online mobs calling their places of work to "out" them and there's a good chance their kids or family members will get caught up and threatened too. That's a slippery slope and then some.
tl;dr Internet vigilantism really makes me deeply uncomfortable because it can so easily hurt a lot more people than intended.
I don't think I ever said anyone should harrass anyone's family... (?)
I do think though that if someone engages in shameful behavior like what happened this weekend, they deserve to have it known.
I mean, I don't want someone who walks around with swastikas on their chest on weekends to be the person in charge of issuing my welfare payments, for instance . (I don't get welfare btw, this is an example.)
I went to an anri-racism demonstration last night, and tonight I'm going to an interfaith vigil hosted by the local Unitarian Universalist congregation. Seeing how people are responding to Charlotesville around here is giving me life and keeping me sane!
What a wild and woolly work week. I am constantly surprised when I have to be more adult than someone almost twice my age with tantrum issues.
And the fun is also getting started.
ALSO VOLTRON S3. Ye gods the fandom is messed up and then some but that was like... super deliberate writing and blocking and idk man that show is the king of Chekov's Gun
If you ship Shiro with anyone you are clearly a pedophile creepy monster that should die and/or literally get punched in the face. The usual. But more toxic.
I like S3 too but... at the same time, it feels too short? They split it up until sS3 and S4 to get it out earlier so a lot of the plotlines seem really rushed. Also there were no silly filler episodes, alas. But I guess silly filler wouldn't have worked in this instance.
D: You mean it really is just 7 episodes this season?!?!?! I was hoping it was a mid-season break. T_T I guess it means I'll be watching the remaining episodes EVEN SLOWER. T_T
Ha, maybe it's better that I've stayed out of fandom. I miss the excitement and camaraderie of being active, but I also have a lot less patience for fuckery in my life. :p

I have limited my exposure to fandoms to just reading on AO3, lately. What type of shenanigans is the Voltron fandom up to?
