There are 1,281 days between today and the Nov. 3, 2020 presidential election. Yeah, I am definitely not a fan of "rich businesspeople who have never run for anything before." I don't personally know of any success stories about people with that background being a big success in high level public office. (Not saying there aren’t any, just that I don’t know about them; if anyone does know of any, then by all means, please share.) The two people I am most familiar with who fit that description are the dumpster fire known as potus no. 45, and the current governor of my state, Bruce Rauner, who is a nightmare in his own right. Imo, the skill set needed to be a successful potus or governor is completly different from the skill set that makes someone successful in the business world. There is some overlap, but it's minimal. Also, people who have come up through serving in their state legislature, congress, etc., acquire an understanding of how government works, how laws get passed, etc., that no amount of corporate business experience can make up for.
As fot the rest of the list, the two that excite me most are Elizabeth Warren and Al Franken. A Warren/Franken ticket would look ptretty good to me. Nothing against Joe Biden or Bernie--I'm just concerned about their ages. Joe will be 77 in 2020, and Bernie will be 78, so either of them would be in his 80s by the time he finished his first term and well into his mid 80s by the end of a second term. I don't care how healthy and vigorous they may both appear to be right now, neither of them is Superman. We're talking about possibly the most stressful job in the world here, and realistically, the idea of anyone stepping into that role at such an advanced age worries me.
