What kind of fake news headline!?! LiveJournal is not "to ban LGBTQ content". There was no announcement that gay content would be banned. No actual gay content has actually been banned. There was just a change to the terms of service so it is more in-line with Russian media laws

Наши законы в отношении геев и лгбт сообщества вполне приемлемы и адекватны. Они отвечают менталитету населения страны. (Как бы у нас традиционное общество. Люби кого хочешь в своей спальне, но знать другим об этом необязательно)
На свои законы обратите внимание)
У нас есть один закон - запрет пропаганды лгбт среди молодежи, т.е. детей трогать нельзя. Вырастут, решат что да как)
А, ну и усыновить не могут такие пары. Т.к. эти люди не состоят в браке и т.д.
В общем, статья данная разжигает конфликты)

I understand that Russia has a conservative point of view around homosexuality. Many people disagree that it is an "adults only" issue, though. Gay couples are not gay because of what they do in the bedroom, they are gay because they fall in love with people of the same gender. In other countries there is a belief that there is nothing bad about this - you can still build a traditional conservative family with two moms who love one another, or two dads who love one another.

The more worrying thing happening right now is not propaganda, but the human rights violations in Chechnya. I know Chechnya is only one part of the Russian Federation and perhaps does not represent the intent of Moscow, but it is difficult for many of us in the West to understand the nuance.

Of course, none of this has anything to do with LJ, in my opinion. I agree with this:

А Чечня то вас каким боком касается? Вы о том, что там убили людей? Это плохо как ни смотри. Даже есть вероятность того, что найдут убийц, но ЧР мусульманская республика, и как только вы решите вопрос с геями в ОАЭ, можете начинать беспокоиться о правах геев в Чечне и любой традиционной мусульманской республике РФ. Москва не регулирует традиции территорий.
Нам все равно кто кого любит) но с нашей демографией беда, население вымирает. И демонстрация любви и уважения к геям - это, как минимум, поддержка вымирания граждан. Государству это не нужно.
По мнению некоторых - возвышение геев и лгбт - ущемление прав натуралов.

Thank you for explaining a bit more about the autonomy of the Muslim territories. I think sometimes the reporting in the West does not go in-depth enough about these issues, so people tend to think all of Russia is the same.

We have a disagreement on the issue of birth rates. I do not think that the very small percentage of gay couples has a significant impact. Lots of gay people do want children and lots of straight people do not want children, so i think it balances out.

That said, many countries are experiencing declining birth rates and my personal opinion is that the solution is to open the borders. I think immigration helps to create a rich and diverse society. Nationalists (also in Europe and America) are strongly against immigration because they value the purity of their current culture, but i personally believe that it is positive and healthy for a country's culture to grow and change over time. This is a normal conservative/progressive discussion, of course.

When the world is suffering from overpopulation,as it is at this point in time, then declining birth rates are a good positive thing. Ever considered that?

(And that's even aside of the fact that gay couples can and do have children.)

вопрос о детях - родить своих детей никто не запрещает, но усыновление под вопросом. есть строгие требования. Россия - правовое государство. в некоторых случаях)

Actually the entire world suffers from overpopulation, yours as well as mine. Want more people in your part of it, ask for more immigration.

Two, there is no reason whatsoever why gay couples shouldn't be able to adopt. In fact, children raised in gay couples have a higher average of being loved and wanted, than in straight couples, and generally arrive in healthier situations, both psychologically as well as economically.

My older brother may not want children at this point, but thankfully in Belgium, that's his choice, and not due to him not being allowed a chance at them.

But if my brother ever changes his mind, gets married to a guy he falls in love with, and ends up wanting kids that I get to spoil as much as I do my sister and my younger brother's children, then I'm glad as hell that Belgium will allow him every opportunity to adopt children who would be lucky and fortunate to have him for a father.

разрешить такую же иммиграцию, как у вас в Европе? спасибо - не надо. я писала выше о том, что у нас не против иммигрантов. но почему-то все они бегут в Европу, которая дает пособия, а у нас работать нужно, чтобы жить, а не девочек насиловать и насаждать свою культуру, устраивать разгромы, жить без работы на средства налогоплательщиков.
а какие причины чтобы принимать гей - парады? у нас нет парадов гетеросексуалов.
в России нет статистики по поводу детей, выросших в гомосексуальных семьях и гетеро. общество этого не принимает и это выбор нашего общества. почему мы должны быть как все?
в общем, выбор у нашей нации пока такой, какой есть. почему этого не могут принять другие страны, которые выбрали другой путь? вы навязываете свой выбор другим людям - разве это правильно? как говорится, в своей стране вы можете делать все, что вам угодно. принимать решения так, как вы пожелаете, только не лезьте к другим со своим мнением и будет полная демократия в мире :)

The reason there is no such thing as hetero pride parades, is because hetero couples are not in danger for expressing their feelings in public, or of having their rights taken away because of their sexual orientation

That's what American conservatives believed not even forty years ago. But because people didn't just lay down, because people didn't accept to be pushed out of sight or into hiding, the majority of people in the US, and most of the Western countries, are now fully accepting of LGBTQ people.

And a lot of that is due to gay pride parades, which made LGBTQ people more visible.

I still don't get what the cold war hostilities have to do with this. Yeah people used propaganda to make people hate one another.

That still has no connection to the fact that we won't stay silent when Russia is harming innocent people.
