This is going to go over well.

Pissing off the Intelligence Community and THEN pissing off the military brass...

I give it two weeks until some dirt pops up on Donny Boy.

The Russians have killed or arrested them all. This makes me think the golden shower memo was actually real.

Yes, I LOVE it when he pisses people off. What goes around comes around, and sooner or later, this kind of shit is going to come back around to bite him in the ass. And I will be in the front row applauding when it does.

I'm not. It's going to be unpleasant. It's already unpleasant but... it's gonna be more unpleasant.

But he's not making any friends and sooner or later the Republican majority will have enough of a reason to justify ousting him. Neither government or financial markets like instability.

I still don't trust the Republicans to actually do it. I wish I could imagine them impeaching him, but I can't.

Neither can I.

I really think they'll have no choice. It's one thing to have a rubber stamp and tons of control, it's another if businesses and markets start to tank and protestors are flooding everywhere.

Behind doors, Repubs are already freaked out about 2018 and repealing Obamacare. They sure as heck don't want the bad PR that they're getting this week by association and they sure as hell aren't going to want to cede any more power to the Executive Branch (like srsly even freaking Morgan Griffith is introducing bills to try and wrest some control back on trade deals).

I don't think they'll want to, and they'll need a really good excuse to frame it as "we're so innocent! We're only looking out for America!!" but it's going to come. He's already unpopular and the business community's going to turn their back on Trump if he's signing things that directly hurt them. So they can either look at impeachment or they can lose and lose yuge in 2018.

Apparently, the Koch Bros aren't happy. That's an awful lot of money that could dry up.

And a reaaaally well-oiled network too.

IIRC people are also going after Uber now by deleting their accounts and not using services. I expect many companies will start getting protest-blackouted.

Yeah, I agree it will take the business community to get on board. Once this hurts their $$$ they'll start calling, and congresspeople might actually listen to those calls.

Can you imagine if other countries started putting sanctions on us?

"You want any more iPhones? Get rid of that bastard."

That would do it in about an hour.

Since it's probably financial reasons that will lead the backlash, the Cato Institute (I know Koch Bros, gross) has a piece from September called "Terrorism and Immigration: A Risk Analysis" and I thought it was interesting. Boiled down to the fact that the costs of a ban on immigration/tourism costs far more than vetting people to the best of our ability.

I have no love lost for the Koch Bros but they have done a ton of research and analyses. For their own purposes, of course. They know their (super-Randian) shit.
