Is anyone as ascendent now as Obama was in 2004? He made a big impression in his DNC speech, I don't know why people were acting like he just showed up in 2008.

The democrats have not fostered a lot of young talent and they pushed out everyone who didn't follow Clinton-esque ideology and now they are really fucked.

Thanks for mentioning that about Obama. I see so many people acting like he just popped on the radar out of nowhere in 2008 when I distinctly remember reading articles about him on a computer in my high school..and I graduated high school in 2007

The Democrats do have young talent, but Hillary seemed bound and determined not to use it. Was she that angry at Sanders that she just couldn't bear the thought of appealing to the people who he appealed to?

I think she didn't know how to. And assumed that because the under-30s are so liberal-leaning.... she didn't need to. (like srsly - I saw maybe ONE tiny lil' yard sign at Virginia Tech indicating Clinton HQ all throughout the election)

It doesn't help though that her Millennial / Centennial crowd are centered n large urban areas that racked the votes up anyway in places she didn't need the advantage. Thanks to the death of rural towns, most kids either get out early or die of heroin overdose / mental health issues in the red areas the Dems needed to overcome for the EC.

I agree with all of this. She definitely didn't know how to make good use of that. Sometimes people make mistakes because they actually don't know the best thing to do and therefore choose the wrong course of action.

The rest of this is spot on as well, imo.

your post made me wonder how it would have been if back in 2004 when obama had given the dnc speech, if social media, youtube etc had been at today's level.
