MOD POST

A few things...

First, I want to say that I know the past week has been really tough, and I know emotions are high. I'm truly sorry to everyone who is scared, upset, angry, and/or depressed about the events of the past week. Please know, if anyone needs anything, I'm here <3

That said, PLEASE remember the rules. I've seen a lot of name-calling, personal attacks, vaguebooking, and pointing fingers at other members for the outcome of the election. I know there are many facets to the members here and we are not a monolith by any means, so disagreements will happen. I beg of you though, please follow the rules while having these disagreements.

The rule of thumb is "attack the idea, not the person." Please keep this in mind when responding, because the other mods and I don't like giving out warnings and we certainly don't like banning people who otherwise bring good insight and interesting viewpoints to the table.

As I mentioned, emotions are high, which means tensions between the different "factions" of the community are high. I understand that. However, I urge you to take a break from the community if you find yourself unable to resist blaming other members for Trump's win or hurling personal attacks at them. I've seen plenty of great discussion without these rule-breaking elements, and I hope that's all I see from here on out.

That said, much like during the primaries, mods reserve the right to reject opinion pieces that are obviously one-sided, especially if they're submitted to illicit a specific reaction from a group of members. As time goes on and emotions cool down some, this may change, but for now I really urge everyone to focus on submitting news or more unifying content.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or the other mods.

And now, for some good news: we have a new spin-off community that is designed for members to submit their own original political/news content! Go join :)
