Devastating and of course not a whisper of this in the news.

I can't glean from the article why the baby needed special milk? I wish I could find the study that showed that ever since western formula companies undermined breastfeeding in famine-prone countries, infant and toddler mortality has shot up. Contrary to popular belief, most women who are suffering from malnourishment themselves can produce milk for their child.

The kid is lactose intolerant.

"It is here that we meet a mother with a lactose-intolerant toddler, Abdulrahman, who weighs no more than a six-month-old baby."

Yes I saw that - if a baby is diagnosed as lactose intolerant or more likely as sensitive to cow milk protein then breastfeeding is always the best option - the mother is required to follow an elimination diet if the baby is sensitive to cow's milk protein.

I was wondering if there was something else.

This breaks my heart. And we barely hear shit about it here in the US and we continue to turn a blind eye to Saudi Arabia's abuses and war crimes. It's infuriating.

"Eighteen months," she says. "He should be walking and talking by now."

Heartbreaking. As was the part when the doctor talked about how tired she is. I'm glad she's doing this, but she shouldn't have to.
