It actually feels like we've come full circle -- as though this is the singular reason Trump ran for president to begin with: to childishly troll Obama on a bigger platform than Twitter.
Back when he started tweeting this shit (stressing "Hussein", asking about birth certificates, calling him a Seekrit Muslim), people snorted, rolled their eyes, and dismissed him.
But then OBAMA publicly snorted, rolled his eyes, and dismissed Trump at the 2011 White House Correspondence Dinner.
So...the sitting POTUS coolly mocked Trump by saying things, to Trump's face, that prominent people around him mostly just *thought* privately when it came to Trump's "brand" -- that his political input was inconsequential because he's so painfully corny/ostentatious. And all in a tone of "LOL, that's President Hussein to you, buddy".
It was so clear, even at that time, that it majorly stung Trump, and that he left the event perma-mad.
Fast forward to today. We now immediately recognize how Trump spitefully doubles down in scorched earth mentality whenever his fragile ego is bruised. Looking back at that clip, you can fully sense Trump thinking, "Yeah, okay. I'll show you".
And so here we are....Watching a painfully insecure man-child trying to get his ridiculous revenge as he rehashes dated "Obama is a Secret Muslim" memes.
Darn, I wish that footage of Trump wasn't so dark. I would love to be able to see the expression on his face more clearly. His displeasure was obvious, even in the dark, though.
Same. Look at all the ground he's gained among the worst type of people. He's the GOP general election nominee, for fuck's sake. Remember when we were just supposed to be pointing and laughing at his obviously doomed bid a year ago? Welp.
He's the kid during your high school student council election who wanted to win for the sake of winning, or to get back at an ex who's also running, and then proceeded to oversee the most disorganized series of cancelled fundraisers and school dances in a student calendar year, ever. All because of that fragile ego.
