I also had no idea mongoloid was an offensive term for people with DS. Had always thought it was just an insult for idiots when you also wanted to insult their appearance. Definitely didn't mean for it to be malicious towards others (just Drumpf). I have learned something today and have retired that word from my vocabulary. Thanks for pointing that out <3

It's also denigrating to an ethnic group, because the Mongoloid name was used to denote both their appearance and the appearance of people with DS as subhuman and worthy of mockery. So whee etymology! (If it makes you feel any better, I only recently learned the origin of another casually flung about ableist word that I had been using way too often in public posts on Facebook to describe my own hyperactive moods, and I promptly cut that right the eff out. People sometimes just don't know. We learn, we do better.) But thank you for changing it. <3 <3 <3 I really do appreciate it.
