Bernie Blew It

Elizabeth Warren is the surrogate he was supposed to be. His supporters have become Clinton’s. How Sanders overplayed his hand.On Monday, Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren campaigned together in Cincinnati. Their message was clear: Donald Trump is a “thin-skinned bully who is driven by greed and hate,” as Warren put it, and the Democratic Party ( Read more... )

And I don't think you can blame the media. He didn't have anything new to say and nothing new to cover.

Every time I've seen him post-Cali he has the same message that he's had the entire election cycle there's been no change, no pivot, no acknowledgement of the millions of people who voted Clinton over him.

I look at Elizabeth Warren and think he well and truly missed the opportunity to play his cards right. She's essentially stepped into the role he could have had seamlessly.

Fair enough, but what kind of position would you like him to be in now?

i'm not sure if that was meant in a passive aggressive way or not? but...i just really don't care about BERNIE SANDERS, in that it doesn't matter to me if he'll be remembered or whatever. i care about progressivism, and if he can accomplish that by helping to elect or bring more attention to actual progressive individuals and values...he's actually doing what i wanted him to do.

i didn't think he'd become the nominee, i didn't even think he would get as far as he actually did, and honestly there are issues with which sanders and i disagree (and other politicians with whom i agree more), but i love that due to a combination of reasons he did much better than i expected and he has reached out to a lot of people, and that he is now supporting other politicians who share the same general values that he does.

what's important to me is that the country becomes more progressive, not that bernie is "remembered."

though the attitude that hrc is entitled to anyone's support disgusts me.

yeah, it really makes me sad that kucinich has so easily been forgotten. back in 2008 i so wanted him to be the nominee, and bernie his vp haha. poor kucinich.

but there are differences like, kucinich didn't make that big of a dent, partially because there were way more candidates, and of course because of obama's and his hopey and changey messaging that got him the youth vote (which really confused me in the primaries as a youth voter who was all kucinich kucinich because my friends who were all about obama also loved kucinich and his record but they were all like "inspiration"...i will always adore kucinich though for calling for gw bush, and cheney's impeachment...and also wanting to impeach obama for libya at least someone who was actually a democrat didn't get soft. i miss him haha).

kucinich

I really don't remember this man. But then again, back then, I was tangled up in serious shit and being threatened by a family member.

i think another "problem" was his style, or how the media discussed his style. like, he's the type of speaker who likes to pump up the crowd and the media/democrats were very wary of that because of dean? i (vaguely) remember people saying he would be just another dean, so the democrats shouldn't back him or something.

FWIW... we also didn't have the easy social media access we do now either. It's amazing how much Twitter / YouTube can impact people's perceptions and record-keeping.
