MOD POST - Submissions and Tags
POST SUBMISSIONS
First of all, thank you all so much for submitting a wide variety of topics to the community! We really appreciate all your work in keeping the community up-to-date with interesting content!
That said, we've had to reject a ton of posts lately for various reasons. So, in the interest of saving the mods and yourself time, please double-check your posts before submission! Things we expect in your submission:
+ SOURCE YOUR ARTICLE. There needs to be a link at the end of your post with the source from whence the article came. If there is no source, your post will be rejected, so please double-check that it's there!
+ SUBMIT ARTICLES. At the mothership, tweet posts are encouraged to avoid getting in trouble with the source websites. Here, we don't have that problem. Please post the full article. Same with videos - we like videos here, but there also needs to be an article in the post talking about what's in the video. Embedded videos and tweets can be deleted by the source, but copied and pasted article text can't be. Also, please remember to add cuts when needed!
+ TAG YOUR POSTS. I know we have a ton of tags to sift through. My suggestion is to think about your article and pull out keywords, and look for those keywords in the tag list. As long as you cover your bases, you'll be good.

Speaking of tags, we went through and deleted/combined/fixed a lot of the tags! A couple of things to note:
+ New "former presidents" tag - this is where we are putting all deceased presidents. We replaced people like FDR, Nixon, etc who had their own tags, though we may have missed some. If you see one of these dead presidents still floating around, let us know and we'll add them to the tag.
+ Apostrophes - because LJ can't seem to get their shit together regarding apostrophes breaking the tags, we've removed all apostrophes from the tags. We know this makes some of the tags grammatically incorrect, and yes it bugs us just as much as it bugs you :P But at least the tags will all work now.
+ TAG SUGGESTION POST! If there's a GLARING OMISSION you've noticed in making your posts, please let us know! Please don't suggest things that are rarely posted about. We now have some wiggle room to add new tags that are not already covered by other tags. For example, we have several tags that encompass many things, like the "lgbtq / gender & sexual minorities" tag. So, "homosexuality" doesn't need its own tag.
