So glad that San Fran said nope, not a right, on this. I think open carry should be banned too. I really really wish they would deal with working in retail, fast food, banks, hell damn near everything that deals with customer service on the people that are so militant about gun rights. As a cashier, I shouldn't have to mentally brace myself every time a male customer reaches behind their back. And I wish they dealt with the customer I dealt with once or twice a month. Two, TWO 9 mils on each hip and a wife that was so submissive that I honestly thought she had either been a mail order, terrified of him or both. He had a really strong habit of whenever she would ask something he didn't like, he'd put one hand near his belt and she would quickly rephrase what she said so it sounded like she was asking him permission. It was so frustrating to watch and mention it constantly only to get brushed off.

He was definitely one of those customers where I always checked around to see if I had an out. He was one of the few I could tell that if something happened he would definitely try and play hero. The only time the wife spoke to me was about phones and god the way he treated her. Basically treating her like a child. 'Tell the lady what it is you want? Speak up she can't hear you.' and so on. Very rarely did you see her alone in the store without him, hell I think he'd follow her into the fitting rooms if he could.

Sadly, my experience has been that unless they are a cop (at least in my area), a lot of people that open carried or had concealed weapons were temperamental. I remember telling one cashier to just take a step back if a customer got belligerent, it takes you out of that small register cubby and if you need to run, you have the room. It was also why I hated jewelry so much. Literally no place to go if something happens.

i live in an area in which -- as far as i know -- not many people carry, so i don't have to think about these things and i can't even imagine...i'm so sorry you have to go through that. it's really not ok that people are put in a position to be afraid at work.

It's one of those things that I really hate to say that it's okay because it honestly isn't and should not be okay to normalize such a thinking pattern that one day it'll happen and not if it'll happen. Some of those crackpots that took over the refuge in Oregon are from this area so unfortunately, that mindset is common among the population. At most I have to deal with it until my escape from Arizona plan can get into gear. Till then, it's

it isn't ok, and i do hope you'll be able to escape to some place with stricter gun laws (and that the gun laws will just become stricter throughout the country). *sighs*

Stay out of Texas, I beg you. I live here and I'm always on guard when I leave the damn house. We are idiots here about guns. It sickens me. Stay safe, bb!

I will not touch Texas as a place to live at all. Visit maybe but hell no to living there. If anything, I want to go back to Wyoming as odd as that sounds. I've been eyeing Laramie a lot lately. Everything I've been looking into as median income, crime, employment/unemployment, etc looks like it would be the best place to go with what I have going for me right now. The only problem is getting the money to get it all set up.

hi, I work at Bass Pro Shop. I have so many customers that come in packing and it's always at the back of my mind: what if someone snapped?

It is so sad that that has to be in our minds as retail workers. What if this guy yelling at me has a gun should not precede where the fuck is the manager.

I used to work at K-mart (before the one here closed down) so you can imagine the people we got in there. One of my old co-workers used to work at Dicks and god the stories he had, especially with Black Friday. He actually stopped a customer shooting another customer over a freaking box of bullets because his army training kicked in and he couldn't stop himself. It's sad that having him around made me feel safer at my job when he was there because I could flat call him on walkie or PA if someone made me uncomfortable and he would show up, stay until the person left and never question why I was uncomfortable. He was one of the few that when I said I don't like walking in the dark, he flat said, yes, people are fucking nuts when everyone else was ridiculing me as it was a 'small' town and nothing happens here.

thankfully that never happened on the past two Black Fridays at our site, but that's why I don't want to ever work it ever again. that and the fact that Black Friday is ridiculous.

I hate Black Fridays with a passion mostly because it USED to be an actual sale in the early 90s but now you're more likely to be paying full price for items that you think are on sale or were on a better sale a week and a half ago. I always made the statement each Black Friday within customer earshot of products. 'Wasn't this like $30 off at the beginning of the month? Now it's only $10 off.' among other things. Such a scam but people eat it up.

I was lucky this year. my family goes on vacation for Thanksgiving, and this year a Thursday to Thursday impossible with my family's schedules, so I got to miss it and the Saturday. I spent Black Friday on a beach and got a massage. suck it, coworkers!

ia but sadly even if they're banned, guns will never go away. the market is too oversaturated and just about all gun owners owns more than one. there is literally no way for the government to track it. i don't think any side has the correct solution and i don't think either side ever will.

That's bizarre and horrible. I can't imagine living like that, and that goes both for the people who somehow have developed a mindset saying they need firearms, and the people who are actually, justifiably terrified because of the people who think they need firearms. Honestly, I simply don't get this "we need to be armed at all times!" thing, no matter how much I read about the US.
