I can't see any reason why those things should have any bearing on each other, which leads me to suspect that the only reason for this comment was to use this rather impressive speech (which I suspect you haven't even read/seen/listened to) as an excuse to take a completely irrelevant and unwarranted swing at Clinton for reasons that have nothing whatsoever to do with the content of the speech itself.
Criticizing candidates is of course acceptable here. But this comment does not represent actual criticism. Criticism of Clinton's foreign policy would mean outlining the things you disagree with in her foreign policy and explaining what you think is wrong with them. This comment is not criticism. It's just a snide comment, and as such, I don't think it's appropriate.

In this case, I felt like a post about something that I was genuinely excited about was being made fun of, and that what I (and many others) felt was a really excellent speech was also being made fun of (just because of who happened to make it). Those things rubbed me the wrong way. If I'd had my ontd filter on at the time instead of my ontd_p filter, I probably wouldn't have had the same reaction.
NGL, I still miss the "old" ontd_p in some ways, but I realize that certain things HAVE changed, and they're not going to change back just because I would like them to! :p
