I've always thought of him as a viable threat...maybe bc I personally know the type of supporter he attracts. But I've always felt like the RNC would put up more of a fight.

i think practically everyone thought he was a joke and humoured him in a similar way that people did when schwarzenegger was governor of california.

he has really capitalised on people's apathy regarding normal political processes and standards, along with inspiring legions of bigots and rednecks who feel disenfranchised in this current ~sjw/pc climate. it would be fascinating if it wasn't so terrifying. i really hope the democratic party can overcome its fracture and unite in support of the eventual nominee, because i think our last hope will be republicans staying home in protest of trump, and democrats or otherwise driving out on election day with similar motivations.

You can be starry-eyed in your hopes and dreams for everyone while at the same time acknowledging that the lowest common denominator - like, say, the folks stanning for Trump - is pretty shitty 80% of the time.
