Neat! I love that we're getting women on our money, as well - I only wish they'd put a Native American on the back of the twenty and got rid of Jackson altogether!

Also -- do people in Canada like Alice Munro a lot? She's canadian and she won the nobel prize in literature in 2013.

We love her here in Victoria! Munro's Books is still a really great store.

Alice Munro is huge here. Her books are best sellers, she's well studied in Canlit courses and basically everyone who knows anything about lit knows her name.

Ooh, my vote would be on Nellie McClung! That's the name of my local library branch. Kind of a petty reason, but still! She seems like a solid choice.

I am not surprised but disappointed that they included McClung the eugenicist in the list. My personal choice was Agnes McPhail, Canada's first woman MP who never made the list. I think these are overall pretty good choices though.

It was an unfortunately common view during a certain period in the 20th century, but still. Sad.
