Beneath a photograph of an AR-15 with all the trimmings, an online petition calling for the open carry of firearms at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July (and possibly intended as parody) has acquired more than 40,000 signatures. Oh you know the Secret Service will be shutting that shit down immediately. There's probably a reason why they picked a gun free arena in an area that allows carry. It's giving the people attending the RNC the false idea that they can be armed...at least until they get to the doors, then they have to go put their weapons back in their cars.

Republican Congresspeople don't want them allowed on Capitol Hill either. funny how they're not crazy about the guns all over where they are.

There had been talk about this on Facebook & I'm glad there is a petition. I am definitely of the mind that the Republicans should put their money, or in this case their lives, where their mouths are. And I wouldn't be surprised if a gun control proponent started it.

I'm fairly certain it was started by a gun control proponent and most of the signators have found their way to the petition via liberal sites.

I assumed it was parody after seeing the assault rifle graphic at the top of the petition and reading the first couple paragraphs, but maybe I'm underestimating how far gone some of the gun nuts are. I saw that some republicans with tickets to the convention are saying they won't go if they can't take their guns with them, so even if the petition started as a troll to point out the hypocrisy of the Republican Party it's taken on a life of it's own.

Petition's here, if you haven't seen it yet, wish to take a gander at it, but haven't felt like hunting for a link: https://www.change.org/p/quicken-loans-arena-allow-open-carry-of-firearms-at-the-quicken-loans-arena-during-the-rnc-convention-in-july-2

Secret Service has already weighed in and put the kibosh on all the gun nut's ammosexual fantasies, so little point in signing.
