She's a vet all right--an Iraq War vet who lost both legs in combat. She's also been heavily involved with veterans affairs in civilian life. She served as Asst. Sec. for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs in the US Dept of Veterans Affairs from 2009 2011, and as the Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs from 2006 until February 2009.

Good question, and I don't know the answer! (And like you, I could see myself voting for her for POTUS, so it would be nice to know.

Tammy Duckworth's father was an American citizen. If her parents were married to each other at the time of her birth she is American citizen regardless of her mother's citizenship or which country's soil she was born on.

That might not be true. It depends on what the US embassy/consulate in Thailand decided and if her father met the proper requirements (if you're curious, check out this "Birth Abroad Out-of-Wedlock to a U.S. Citizen Father" in a google search, you'll want to look at the 'old' part) or if Duckworth was born on US property in Thailand such as in the embassy/consulate or on a military base.

I assumed her parents were married at the time of her birth, thus my answer. Is there reason to assume she was born out of wedlock? I did check to see if that was the case, but found no information as to whether her parents were married before or after her birth.
