The Brazilian wax has been on its way out for a while. But what may be its final death throe comes, according to the Atlantic Wire, in the form of unshaved mannequins on display at American Apparel.

Feminists and women who don't like pain have reason to celebrate, but here's another group that should embrace the natural trend: doctors. American ( Read more... )

I hate this kind of "journalism."

"Quintupled" means nothing. Give us the baseline numbers.

Shave, don't shave, wax, braid, I don't care and neither should anyone else.

Yeah, I'd kind of like to see numbers, too, as well as the nature of the injury. 20 people going into the ER isn't a huge deal to me. Nor are people going in because they just nicked themselves or have razor burn.

And even so, people do things to themselves that cause injury when not done correctly or when not paying attention all the time. This really isn't any kind of revelation that people have gone to the ER due to pubic hair accidents.

EDIT: the stats are on the paper linked at the source. "From 2002 to 2010, an observed 335 actual ED visits for GU injury related to grooming products provided an estimated 11,704 incidents (95% confidence interval 8430-15,004). The number of incidents increased fivefold during that period, amounting to an estimated increase of 247 incidents annually".

247 people a year? Yeah, that's really not something to get worked up about, I don't think. Okay, it's late and I think I read that wrong. Even so, 1400/year isn't a huge number, either. And it also didn't say the extent of the injury.

I disagree. If you braid your pubes, that's definitely something people should care about because that'd be awesome and pictures of this feat are totally needed. Like braided beards, only 100x cooler. (French braids get extra points)
