That first set of verses actually gets twisted by some folks to mean "You are mad at me for what I said, that must mean I'm right and you are just persecuting me for being Christian!" I used to hear that one a lot when I traveled in evangelical circles. It was really hard to call out bad behavior because they'd get all excited when people reacted negatively to the offensive shit they spewed.
