We got fake bomb threats at my school between once a semester and once a year, at which point the building threatened and buildings in the immediate area would be evacuated. I don't remember a single one panning out. We did have a genuine incident with a shooter on campus, though -- that one was real. (He fired a few shots into nothing, went into the library, and killed himself. Classes resumed the next day.)

It also happened about once a year in high school. The police would bring the dogs out and do a walk through. But there actually was a bomb in the school once. I don't think that one was called in as a threat, though. Someone rigged one of the lockers to explode, but not really explode. It was some tiny little pop. I don't think anyone was injured. It mangled the bottom of the locker that had been rigged and did a little damage to the ones on either side. (Obviously still very dangerous to have something exploding from inside a metal locker because it could have thrown off shrapnel, but fortunately it didn't amount to much in the end.)

I think the scary thing is, as someone pointed out, that having had all that happen, I'm so desensitized to these kinds of threats at schools. I just automatically wait for the all clear and announcement that it's a hoax.
