The Day the Rob Ford Story Stopped Being Funny

Dec 05, 2013 14:06

It's been fun, I'm not going to lie. During the past three weeks in Toronto, you've never had to wonder what you're going to talk about at a party. Restaurants have had fun coming up with crack burgers and Ford desserts and other Ford-themed comestibles of all kinds. (To turn any food item "Ford-themed" simply dust it with powdered sugar.) I've ( Read more... )

This.

He's openly admitted to using and buying, to drunk driving, to a host of things. And while confession isn't enough to charge someone, I find it unbelievable that in all the police surveillance that they don't have SOMETHING on him.

At any rate, he's just tiringly offensive. I had to delete someone off my FB for her repeated pleas that it MUST be the media just making a spectacle of a poor poor drug addicted man, when I explained that he's largely dug his own hole, and the media has been largely reporting what is, ( aside from DailyShow takedowns, but thats what DS does), she continued with the Poor Robbie Ford narrative.

I don't have issues with addicts. I know a few. They're good people who have worked to rehabilitate their lives. I am tired of Ford's behaviour as it reflects on my city. He has no place in office.

( and today, with his comments on our healthcare system? the one we all pay into, the one he's merrily partaken of in the past? yeah, just try to find a private insurance, oh trainwreck boy.)

If I wasn't across the country I'd be protesting at City Hall. I find it completely incomprehensible that the "regular guys" (albeit dealers and criminals; people with no political power) are up shit creek or dead yet Mr. Ford is still scumming around in office. I cannot believe that there are zero laws in Canadian legislature stating that he can't be removed at fucking all. It makes me gag, yet I still chuckle in the darkest parts of my soul. My popcorn has gone cold, guys.

He is white, he is rich, and he has power. Of course he aint going to prison any time soon. they love him. we all know the story would be completely different if he wasnt white.

If Louisiana can put a governor in prison, why can't Toronto do the same to a mayor?

This was never funny.

Although I do find his total lack of shame and his attitude of not giving a fuck, really interesting. Is it the drugs? or was he always like that?

He's always been like that. Deny, deny and lie...until the evidence can no longer be ignored.
