There has been more information about this in the Detroit media. The toxicology report has been released and the Wayne County prosecutor is going to be making an announcement tomorrow about this case.

I'd like to take a minute to stress that as I can see it, it's irrelevant that she was drunk and high at the time.

While driving drunk/high is incredibly stupid, she should be doing community service, attending rehab/counseling, and not dead from being shot in the face.

I'll redact my statement if it comes out that she was intentionally trying to harm him or tried to grab the gun, but that wouldn't make sense because he's saying it was accidental.

I've heard this before about the way black women are seen but it's powerful to see what that can lead to *now* not in some other era.

I've only read part of "No, You’re Not Imagining It," an article in the Sept issue of Essence but it's great and I've spent the day making a mental list of who to send it to. Like almost everyone who posts online about how hard it is to be white, about "playing the race card," etc. (article can probably be accessed through your library via EBSCO but meanwhile.

If every white person countered ignorance with education, we might see change. Or maybe I'm fooling myself and only revolution will work. IDK
