I was the victum of being acused of rape when nothing of the sort happened. I almost lost my job and I lost many friends in the process. Immediately when it happened I was labelled as a bad person and I was guilty without even saying a word about the whole affair.
After a very lengthy investigation that effected my day to day life it was found that she was clearly lying and the charges were never laid. But nothing happened to her at all. And when I even hinted at wanting to go down a legal path for retribution, I was shot down because it wouldn't look good for me to go after a victim. So even after this whole affair, she is still known as the victim.
I do not know if I agree with how rash Mr. Nolan is with this, but I agree in principle with what he is doing. All of this talk of rape culture is being driven by feminists who give no regard for what men actually have to say in this process.
I'm sorry that happened to you, but the number of women that falsely report rape is very low compared to the number of actual reports of rape. I'm not saying that men can't be victims of patriarchy (they very well can be and are), and I'm not saying that there's never a possibility that the woman is lying. But rape culture is very, VERY real and very serious and dangerous. So many women are afraid to report their rape because they're afraid they'll be blamed or that they won't be believed. And the effects of being raped and not being believed are far, far worse (psychologically, emotionally, physically) than the effects of being falsely accused of rape and not being believed. Don't dismiss the reality of rape culture and the suffering of rape victims because of a personal experience you've had.
I do not believe in the rape culture to be honest. I think it is a narrow minded approach to a real problem that we have in our society. We have a problem with alcholism, drug abuse, sexuality and self control on campuses across North America. These are all contributers to the so-called rape culture, but they get cut out when we just focus on the rape.
It means just focusing on the development of men and how that effects their perception of women and sexuality. But the problem of raping on campuses goes well, well beyond that.
