And after thinking on this a while it occurs to me... wtf are the local law enforcement going to do with approx 3000 kero soaked Korans that represent a huge fire hazard?
Is there even any way now to get rid of them safely without a controlled fire? Surely they'll end up incinerating them regardless... At least it won't be a spectacle.
IDK. That might be politically unwise, even if they did find some sort of muslim holy guy to OK it. Maybe put them in a coffin, say a few solemn words over the coffin, and bury them?
I didn't have any idea about how one goes about disposing of holy books but I looked it up and it does seem sensible for them to just follow tradition and bury them. It's so shameful that this happened and to so many.
Muslims generally burn scraps of paper that have verses of the Qu'ran on them - so I would say burning the Qu'rans, if safe, is okay. Burying is best, though.
