A disturbing letter targeting a teen with autism has shaken the boy's family and rallied the local community to their defense.

TW: ableist language, bullying. )

autism, flames on the side of my face, parents, bullying, *trigger warning: ableism, ableism, meanwhile in canada..., *trigger warning: bullying

Getting it to the media and the resultant outrage is the right tactic. Even anonymously, the author has been shamed.

I don't think the person capable of writing that letter is capable of shame. That letter is horrid.

I agree with you. Anyone who can say the things that person said... Of course, they're also too big of a fucking coward to sign their name to it.

Or, at the very least, they're now hiding in fear of being found out for writing it.

Yes. I hope they're quaking in their fucking boots and can't go to bed without having nightmares of being caught.

And after a few days of that, I hope law enforcement is able to identify the perpetrator and arrest them, and that their name and image is blasted on every TV news outlet imaginable, and printed in every newspaper, so that the whole world will know who did this and what a vile, disgusting POS they are.

I really hope they do figure it out, because it disturbs me that someone could write to another person and tell them that they should euthanize their child (among other hurtful, evil things) and then expect to sit back in anonymity.

Whether they're trying to keep a low profile now, or they're out there pretending to be horrified by the letter along with everyone else, it's good if they're witnessing all this backlash and wondering if/when their words will ever be traced back to them.

Yup

I hope that everyone they know is talking about this in front of them and talking about what a horrid person the letter writer must be.

Good. I hope they lose sleep over this every night for the rest of their lives. The mother said that best, who says that about a child!?

I hope they find her and sue her for harassment. I hope that she has to serve jail time or probation or something.
