Sad result, but between everyone being able to get a carry permit and the stand your ground clap trap, profiling would not have made a difference. Sadly Trayvon did not have the ability to stand his ground.

I would be willing to bet everything I own that if Trayvon had had a gun and had been able to shoot Zimmerman, there would have been an immediate trial with a very different verdict.

Not both armed; if Zimmerman had been unarmed and started a confrontation with Martin, started beating on him, and Martin had been the one to pull a gun out. I bet "stand your ground" would not have applied to him then.

we are left feeling that somehow the morality of having a 17-year-old kid killed for doing nothing more than putting on a hoodie, purchasing some Skittles from the store and walking home has to be addressed.

Also the morality of considering it acceptable to bestow upon oneself the authority to enforce your own rules about who does and doesn't "belong" and who might or might not be "up to something."
