Power to the people for a little common sense! Hope Kiera has a great experience at camp and can put this debacle behind her!

I'm so happy! It's so shameful for the school that she ever got into more than just a little trouble at all, and I'm glad to see that she has had such good support that she's not only cleared but getting to pursue more science. Good for Kiera. ♥

None of this should have happened in the first place, but it's good to hear that the charges were dropped and she'll get to go to the space camp! :)

This is what zero tolerance gets you. People stop using common sense.

Exactly.

In fact, zero tolerance policies actually PRECLUDE using common sense, by strictly dictating what the consequences of a particular act/occurence HAVE to be, in ALL cases, at ALL times, period, full stop, do not pass Go, do not collect $200. With a policy like that in place, teachers and administrators are literally prevented from using their own judgment or common sense to determine how to handle a particular event. Which is, of course, WHY zero tolerance policies are so stupid and short-sighted.

(I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I felt like pointing this out anyway. ;p )

Awesome! Thanks to that lawyer for stepping in and representing them cheaply and thanks to Mr. Hickam and the internet! I'm glad the state attorney came to her senses and dropped the felony charges.

I hope the Wilmot sisters love Space Camp. I went to a day camp there once in middle school and it was awesome. I always wanted to do the real thing.
