Only, I don't think Hashimoto cares - just this morning, he was on twitter doubling down on what he's saying, and blaming all the hubbub on him blaming cultural differences over prostitution for the reason people (in the West) were upset over his comments on having US servicemen use fuzoku services, and completely ignoring that people in Japan and out are mad about the fact he's got no understanding of basic human rights and is all "*kanyeshrug* Men in war are horndogs and need vag!" and ignoring how that reduces women to, you know, sexual tools, and basically put the rights of men to Get Some over those of women not to be forced into sexual slavery.

I don't think he gives a shit about women and the stupid opinions they dare to express, but he might care about the political ramifications of being such a fuckstick.

Oh, he definitely doesn't care what women think. But, to be honest, I'm not sure how much of a serious, long-term fallout there's going to be for him. I'm skeptical, because so many people over here are in general completely apathetic about politics. He very clearly doesn't think he said anything wrong, and just today got defensive saying it wasn't fair that Japan alone was singled out for using comfort women, when the US troops were sleeping with Japanese prostitutes constantly after the war, and militaries all over the world had military brothels. Dude is NOT getting it, and he's doggedly trying to shirt the conversation, and the "poor widdle Japan!" argument will work well with the right wingers/netoyou. So it remains to be seen.

Good for them! You go, ladies. I'm sure they don't want Hashimoto being their public face any more than I want people thinking that Steve king speaks for me.

so glad he's getting plenty of blowback on this from other japanese people, even if it sounds like none of it's actually penetrating his skull.
