Does anyone here know why she and her husband went back to Russia and left their sons here in the United States? Were there any news reports on the reason?

IDK if this was related, but I saw in some news outlets that the mother might not come to the US now because if she does she will be arrested for previous theft charges.

I can't remember if it was from a valid source though.

I heard it on NPR today and saw it on CNN and HuffPo. I'd say it's pretty reliable.

She bail-jumped. She was arrested for theft, and instead of facing the charges, she fled to Dagestan.

i think it was pretty recently too that they left, right?

i remember when the uncle was first interviewed i think he said that their father left recently, i think within 6 months.

but i could have imagined that.

She was arrested for shoplifting (by one account, I think in the Boston Globe, over $1,400 worth of stuff) from the Nordstrom's in the Natick Mall, about 20-30 minutes west of Boston. When the identities of the brothers were first released, her booking photo showed up in a few places as well.
