However, this line "explicitly stating a church will never be required to conduct a marriage" saddens me in that it is necessary to code into law to prevent people from an uproar "about da gubmint forcing churches to marry people!!!!1one!"

Good. I hope over the next couple years that enough people will be see that society won't crumble into debauchery because two people of the same sex want to marry and that marriage equality can become a right in every U.S. state and territory.
