This is why I don't claim Georgia at all. Racism is so pervasive here (and in many other states, don't get me wrong) that it's almost shorthand for being from here. I'm biracial myself, so this really, really, really gets my ire up.
I'm Puerto Rican, born and raised. When I moved to Georgia in '07, it was such a huge culture shock for me. I was soooo disturbed by how racist and bigoted people I encountered were. I had never, ever in my life seen anything like it. Then I had a few situations where I had racial slurs hurled at me and I was done. I hate Georgia and I never, ever want to go back there.
I just saw this in my inbox and couldnt work out the context until I clicked the link and it said "USA". For me Georgia is a country XD . Lol, so I was thinking: Why would Georgia have used the flag of some Russian confederacy or something? *brain break trying to work out what's being talked about*
Anyway, yeah, wow, that does sound like the kind of state of the USA I would never want to move to D: . Adopting a flag that includes the confederate flag to protest desegregation and leave it up until 2001?! D:
Being on this comm and learning about more of each US state, I'm not sure how many are left on a listof places that sound nice to go to in America :-P .

And barred by the police from attending the prom because of race? Does that state not have laws against discrimination at all?
