I know what you mean. But when I feel tempted to give a fuck about those franchise owners, I remember that nobody held a gun to their head and made them become franchise owners. They chose to do so. They could presumably have just as easily bought a franchise for some other company that wasn't so heavily associated with such an obnoxious level of douchefuckery.

And I find myself thinking that if it really bothers them THAT much to be associated with said douchefuckery, maybe they should be looking for somebody to buy them out, instead of trying to convince the rest of us that they're not REALLY douchebags themselves and we should eat at their restaurant even though they represent a company that supports that kind of douchefuckery....

That makes a lot of sense, and I went through the same (or a similar) thought process...it's just...I want to believe that this guy isn't a jerk-face and I personally don't know enough about how franchising works, when he bought that franchise, if he tried to sell it, if he considered joining another one...I just hope he is a good guy and that maybe this will effect change (though I doubt it).

This. I throw no shade on the minimum wage earners there - if you're working food service it's very unlikely you have several options of where to be employed - but the franchise owners? Yeah, no.
