Wait, I forgot -- what was it that made the Jindal SOTU response awkward a few years back? I recall the 30 Rock reference to that awkward intern character but I feel like there was more to it than that? Google gives me too-broad answers ("AWKWARD!").

His tone was very slowed-down and came across very sing-song-y -- Jindal's actual speaking voice is much different from the way he sounded that night. For one thing, he speaks a mile-a-minute, so he was probably repeatedly coached to slow down.

I had to go look at other vids of him speaking to compare. OH MY GOD.

I didn't watch it live so all I remember is his dismissal of monitoring volcanoes, which was pretty stupid.

Also, Jindal brought up ~unnecessary~ government spending on Volcano monitoring, and then a volcano exploded in Alaska like a month later.
