At the same time, once we're out of the rhetoric and into the action, the ease of illegal access is going to be a huge mess to deal with. No matter how much we cut the ease of access, it's going to be a bearcat to enforce, simply because we've had free access to firearms for so damn long.

And people's interpretations of the second amendment are also going to be a major barrier. I worry that we'll have a Prohibition-esque problem on our hands, simply because there are so many people who would believe themselves in the right to take part in illegal efforts to ensure gun access in defiance of gun-control laws.

Plus, technology is beginning to deliver the ability to manufacture one's own firearms, in the forms of three-dimensional printing (you can get, at some expense, a compact home 3D printer capable of printing out all the necessary parts to a firearm) and online tutorials for machining one out of metal with easily-obtainable power tools.

I mean, it's important. It's definitely important. I'm just worried over the magnitude of the task it will be to do it.
