My initial comment to you wasn't even hostile and I was actually trying to be very respectful towards a person who as far as I understand has also faced "interfaith" discrimination (your comment about " an appreciation for my culture is an appreciation of terrorism"). It's because I sympathized that I decided to reply and it's why I started it off with "I get what you're saying". I don't mean to be vague but I have had experiences with trolls I don't wish to repeat so you instantly replying with a monolithic "troll" comment even though in my opinion I worded my initial comment with respect makes me rme and not wish to share ANY experiences whatsoever. Also I'm sick to death of rehashing very personal life stories irl or over the internet in the interminable "Are you Jew enough" test which is part of the problem I believe we're discussing. I followed very closely the storm of blind hate and fanaticism and pure vitriol that Judith Butler attracted three months ago when she accepted the Adorno Prize and it's left a very very bitter taste in my mouth. I personally am willing to LISTEN TO criticism (not agree with mind you - merely LISTEN TO) coming from people who *SHOCK OF SHOCKS* do not have to jump through hoops to pass any random "Are you Jew enough" tests. Maybe even criticism from *GASP* non-Jews (I KNOW RIGHT?). Maybe you should question why your immediate reaction to a pretty mild opinion expressed over the internet was so hostile and your first instinct was the classic "Are you Jew enough" test. I think in the answers you will find that my initial comment was pretty damn true. Maybe there are "many, many voices" out there but in my experience they've dwindled dramatically and they sure as fuck aren't heard. It's always "with us or against us". Case in point: Judith Butler.
