the Oxford English Dictionary now recognises a second usage of “gay” to mean “socially inappropriate, or disapproved of and lame”.

Ugh channel 4 is awful for this. I do find it interesting that they censor the word "lesbian" on a fairly regular basis, yet as soon as the word "gay" is censored a fuss is kicked up.

dear lord.

i am just imagining this straight person sitting there in the editing suit chewing their nails going: "is this offensive context in the conversation? everything is offensive now. if i cut it out no one can complain, right? yeah, i'll just cut out all the bad words..."

*facepalm*

and double facepalm considering the last paragraph. :|

although i'm curious why this even got brought up though, because i'm sure they cut stuff like that out all the time.
