I don't think he did. I'm thinking it's sarcasm.

And actually, on further reflection, I'm thinking we're looking at a very calculated political move on both parts.

Murdoch isn't stupid. With his loudmouths on TV, he is undoubtedly making a fortune off the tea-party mentality that has gripped Republicans. But he can probably tell it's not going to last or be a winning strategy much longer. It's mostly older people who aren't all going to be around for 2016. Younger people are being driven away.

Christie's showing of good leadership skills plus disagreeing with the off-putting mouth pieces of the Republican's party, I mean, Fox News, will be a solid appeal to Republicans whose minds are centered in reality. And maybe moderate Democrats as well. And NJ is a blue state. Popularity there can give him inways into nearby blue states, like PA and her 20 votes. Maybe even NY and her 29...

If Mitt wins, Murdoch is set with his man in the White House. If Obama wins, Murdoch's company can continue their rain of bullshit upon Obama and, subtly at first, start to champion Christie and other more sensible and modern Republicans.

And Obama winning is in Christie's best interests, too. That means he can run in 4 years, not 8.

Or maybe I'm too into conspiracy theories.
