Was Margaret Thatcher's Top Aide Peter Morrison in Paedophile Ring?

The politician implicated in an alleged child sex ring at 10 Downing Street was Sir Peter Morrison, one of Margaret Thatcher's closest advisers, IBTimes UK can reveal.

Morrison was the mystery "senior aide" MP Tom Watson alluded to at Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs). Watson's ( Read more... )

yeah, i know. -_- that's why i was side-eyeing that random interjection about how the Tories were trying to cover up him being gay without any real context, as if that 'hiding his gayness' was the same as covering up paedophilia or something? yeah... that has the rather unfortunate implications of gay = paedo. >_>

They would have been trying to cover it up because of Section 28, and Thatch's very public stance on homosexuality ("it's an abomination"). Things they really should have mentioned in the article, because the lack of context for that bit...

oh yeah, that the Tories would want to hide that he was gay doesn't surprise me in the least, but as you mention, it's that lack of context in the article...

I tell you, I will be so surprised if it's shown that Thatch's lot covered up things like this. Really. So surprised.

Also, Tom Watson is often ace.

Tom Watson's blog says he wasn't referring to Morrison. Edwina Currie talked about Morrison having sex with 16 year old boys, which was illegal at the time

Within the material seized at Righton’s home were letters from known and convicted paedophiles. The contact, who has seen the letters, claimed that one paedophile in particular was of great concern. He said that the paedophile, who worked with children, boasted of a key aide to a former PM who could help get hold of indecent images of children. I am not naming the person for obvious reasons but for clarity it is not former MP, Peter Morrison. This afternoon my office has been bombarded with calls regarding Morrison, I think because he was named by Edwina Currie at the weekend as having inappropriate sexual relations with teenage boys.If you follow Tom on twitter he mentioned getting a phone call that looked like it would be the start of another big investigation (he's been a massive force in the hacking scandal) - this is probably what it is. The Jimmy Savile is the tip of a ( ... )

These stories frighten me because they show how much is going on and is covered up. Not past tense. We only find out about these when the institutions they are part of lose interest in covering it up - regime change, distance in time etc etc. Catholic church, the boyscouts, Thatcher's aid, Jimmy Saville - they come to light only AFTER enough time has past that it can become "old news" for the organisation.

So how much is being covered that is CURRENT news? Just waiting until it becomes old enough that the covers can be removed...

"Not sure why the article needed to bring in the bit about him being gay in a way that somehow links it to all the rest. "

Homophobia on the part of the writer, publication and society

... and now many people deny that. with Saville there's jsut so many people who are like: "but things were different back then."

oh yeah? thing are different now, are they? >_>
