You wouldn't be the first queer person to get annoyed by that. I go back and forth on it myself, because sometimes I believe they're genuinely trying to advertise that allies exist in the world.... and sometimes they're clearly aiming for cookies.

I think they're forgetting what Coming Out means. Or that not everything revolves around them.

Is the pride group run by straight students though? It may be a matter of the people organizing it wanting to include everyone, but completely missing the point of the day in the first place.

The event at my school had an ally coming out story.

I tried to listen, but there were free cupcakes to be had. Priorities!

I can see something like, "Hey gay allies, can you come out to support us? We could use some straight people to run interference with haters..." but... "coming out as an ally" stories? Um, no.
