For serious though, it really annoys me when people talk about moving the fuck outta here because X won the election. I've been guilty of saying it in the past too, but Idk. It's like with me living in Texas, I don't want to just move because I think the state is gradually turning blue and I want to be here and help it happen. I don't like the whole abandon ship mentality. =\
I've never liked that mentality either but I have thought about it more in the past year. If women's rights did become severely restricted (abortion became illegal, contraceptives become nearly possible to get, etc.), I would seriously consider emigrating. I don't really think that it would get to the point where that would happen but a lot of recent political rhetoric has me frightened.
Haha! Same! My BFF lives in Bicester, and I've told her if shit gets really bad to hire me as her housekeeper so I'd be sponsored by a "job" to move my husband and myself over. She has a second bedroom we could borrow until we started to make our way. Hopefully that could work!
I would honestly think they'd have more things to worry about, because lets be honest, so many people talk the talk but don't walk the walk. I'd find it very unlikely a ton of Americans would be moving to Canada if Romney wins.
It's weird when I hear people say they are going to move to another country because ___ was elected/reelected, there are so many areas you can "hurt" that politician, by voting in local elections and midterm elections.
edit: hahaha this is a joke! I just seen the source and who wrote it.
