Sarah Palin for President

Oct 07, 2008 13:11

Hey bbs, I thought we could use a laugh.

As I continue the promotion of my new book, "None of the Above," the No. 1 question I get from interviewers is whether the selection by John McCain of running mate Sarah Palin has changed my mind at all about the two major-party candidates.

The answer is "no."

I like Sarah Palin very much. If she were at the top of the Republican ticket, it would certainly change my thinking. But she isn't. She is running for vice president. John McCain is the presidential candidate, and I believe he will be a disaster for this country.

I have explained why I think his election, which I believe is all but assured, will be even worse long-term for the country than a victory by Barack Obama.

Vice President Sarah Palin is not going to change a thing, because vice presidents have no real power, other than presiding over the Senate. She might get to cast a tie-breaking vote once or twice in the coming four years. In fact, Palin probably has more power as governor of Alaska than she will have as vice president.
Frankly, the office is a waste of her genuine talents.

The No. 2 question I get in my on-going media tour is: "So who will you vote for Nov. 4 for president?"

Today, I am pleased to announce my write-in choice - drum roll, please.

My vote for president this year is for … Sarah Palin.

Think about it.

McCain is going to win.

I predict he will win bigger than practically anyone imagines.

Barack Obama is self-destructing faster and more dramatically than the assignment messages on "Mission Impossible."

He's toast.
It's really just a question of how big McCain wins.

How big do you want him to win?

How much of a mandate do you want to give this Democrat in Republican garb?

How much do you want him to redefine the Republican Party in his own image?

Those are questions to be considering seriously with seven weeks remaining in this campaign.

So what's the best way to keep him honest?

Wouldn't it be great if a significant percentage of voters really expressed their enthusiasm for Sarah Palin by writing her in at the top of the ticket?

Is she qualified?

You bet she is. In fact, she has more executive experience than McCain, Obama and Joe Biden combined. And the fact that she is the only one of the quartet who has not spent any time in Washington is another feather in her cap, as far as I am concerned.

So, that's what I plan to do.
I
hope you will consider joining me in this campaign.

Sarah Palin has been a genuine breath of fresh air in this campaign. She has introduced energy into American politics. She has reinvigorated the debate. She has overshadowed not only her rival, Biden, but Obama and McCain as well.

But she hasn't made me any more desirous of seeing John McCain in the White House for the next four years. In fact, she has proven my theory that there are far more qualified and exciting candidates on the Republican bench than most Americans have realized.

Most of those who vote for McCain this year will live to regret it. I believe most of them already know he's not the candidate he is portraying himself as in his bid for the presidency. At least half the Republicans voting for McCain will be holding their nose on Election Day or pretending they're actually voting for Sarah Palin.

Why pretend? Why hold your nose?

Why should we wait for 2012 or 2016?

Let the good times roll now.
