Global bacon shortage 'unavoidable'

Experts say the world could be on the verge of a significant bacon shortage because of rising feed costs and declining pig populations.

Britain's National Pig Association said Tuesday that an international shortage of bacon and other pork products is now "unavoidable," and expects higher prices for consumers ( Read more... )

All my friends are panicking like hell over this while I just watch them with amusement. LOL, to be a Jew who keeps kashrut during a bacon shortage! Sort of surreal, actually.

gestational diabetes, bacon is on of the few things to keep her sugars kinda level. we're super done having kids after this pregnancy. this pregnancy has been so much worse then the last one.

At least it should go away after the pregnancy's over, though, right? At least from what I understand about gestational hypertension/diabetes.

that is the hope, though women are at a 40% greateer chance of developing Type 2 diabetes post pregnancy if they had gestational diabetes. Post pregnancy she's decided to come to the gym with me.

Thanks! we're hoping between an increase in activity and a regular visits to the diabetes educator we'll get through this. Her family doesn't make responsive diabetics they all tend to get brittle pretty fast.

I'm converting to Judaism so it's not a problem for me either. It wouldn't affect me anyway. I've also been a vegetarian for nearly 8 1/2 years and even when I ate meat I never liked pork.
