GOP accuses Obama of 'abandoning Czechoslovakia'

In a stunning display of dishonesty by paid right wing commentator Liz Cheney, the daughter of former VP Dick Cheney, who accused President Obama of abandoning the nation of Czechoslovakia even though the country has not existed since 1992.

The moment came on the political round table talk show called "This Week" broadcast on ABC. In specific Ms. Cheney said this:

"He's (Obama) abandoned some of our key allies like Israel, Poland, Czechoslovakia. He's attempted to appease our enemies. The Iranians, for example. The Russians."

Now, what is wrong with this statement? The nation of Czechoslovakia has not existed since 1992.

In 1992 President Obama was working at the law firm of Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Gallard. He also landed a job teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School.

Once again the facts do not match the Republican party's rhetoric. The unfortunate fact of this type of tactic is even though it is a blatant lie it does not matter, as the GOP is not trying to win over the entire crowd, but only influence those whose biases are confirmed by the misinformation they hear.

In a sense it is interesting to see Liz Cheney carrying on her father's legacy of dishonesty. Dick Cheney was named one the most disliked vice presidents in history. That is quite a distinction to live up to, but Liz is surely making her father proud.
