In case you haven't noticed, and you probably have unless you're really new here, about a week and a half ago or longer, I don't even remember, tbqh, I suggested implementing a tagging system to make organization and finding certain posts much easier. Since then, all (or MOST) of the subsequent entries have tags, and I have finally gotten to September 1st in back entries tagging them. We now have OVER 200 TAGS! Wow! This is just a quick post to explain how I set the tagging system up and how you should tag entries. I'm not going to be a huge bitch about the way people tag entries though, but as long as you have the basics down, it's fine.
1. Make sure you TAG entries. If there's an athlete, tag the athlete. If it's an international athlete, include the team: country tag, because most people might not know the name, but they do know the country. I didn't do this for any of the American athletes because most of the athletes we discuss are American. However, when it's basketball, soccer, baseball or any other team sport where you don't want to tag EVERY member of the team, use the team: usa tag!
2. If there isn't a tag, I will usually notice and set one up. You can comment here if I'm slow or don't notice. This entry is going to be tagged with EVERY TAG for easy access.
3. Aside from the athlete and team tags, there's also sport tags. Use these when the athletes are actually participating in the sport. So if Nastia is giving an interview, you don't necessarily need to use the gymnastics tag, but if there's a picspam of her from the Olympics, use it!
4. Some events (SNL, the gymnastics tour) have event tags. A talk show is anything from David Letterman to Ellen to Regis and Kelly. A public appearance is like some red carpet event.
5. The chats have their own tag.
6. Bela Karolyi has his own tag.
7. There are individual tags for London 2012, Beijing 2008, Athens 2004 and Sydney 2000. They are for generic things that don't really have a specific athlete, event or country, like the ceremonies and ~controversies~ which btw, also have their own tags. Don't use them, unless you don't know what else to tag your entry with.
8. For videos, if you have a youtube link, use the youtube tag. If it's from some other site, use the videos tag. If it's an nbcolympics vid, use the nbcolympics tag!
9. Interviews are text questions. Articles are text articles.
10. Little olympians is the tag for baby/childhood pics of our favourite olympians. You don't have to use this in a picspam if it includes a single baby picture unless you want to, but definitely use it if the picspam is primarily those pictures.
11. Um, I think everything else is pretty self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! I'm really nice!
12. athletes: michael phelps - 174 uses WOW GUYS. NASTIA IS IN SECOND AND SHE HAS 105.
