5/8/15: Webster Hall, NYC
First U.S. tour date and IT WAS FUCKING GREAT!!!!
lalalive23 and i were going to get up early and go into the city to line up but at 6:30 a.m. there were already like 90 people in line so we were like "fuck that, it's a tiny club, we'll see them wherever we are so let's just go back to sleep." kat went to work while i slept but she got out early so i met her in NYC and we had lunch and went down to the venue at about 4pm.
it was bananas. people had started lining up on thursday afternoon. the webster hall staff had barricaded everyone up on the sidewalk since i guess they'd been tipped off that the band would be arriving shortly - which they did. in a fucking UBER, for god's sake. muse: they're just like us!
so kat and i are standing on the street side of the barrier and muse just roll up in this big-ass black SUV. the back windows were tinted so we couldn't be entirely sure who was in back, but i saw dom anderson's big ol' morrissey haircut so obviously it was them. dom climbs out and glances around and waves, and chris makes that face (the cross between a smile and :| this face) and waves, and maff bellalamy hops out and smiles and waves and they escape into the hall and we were all like #thathappened! they were only about 20-30 feet away so it was kind of surreal because i have never seen them that close outside of being front row at a gig. they are CUTE AS HECK, man. the dark hair makes dom look kinda tired, though. maybe he can go lay out in the sun when they go to LA next week???
that was at maybe 4:30? so then we went and got in the actual line since they were allowed to sort themselves out again (literally people had numbers written on their hands in sharpie and we did not want to fuck with that whole arrangement) and we met up with dolce_piccante and her brother and his friends and goofed around and talked in line until they finally let us in. i did not feel remotely calm until they checked me off the will call list and gave me my wristband, y'all. after the shitshow that was the presale, i was so terrified they'd be like "LOL GLITCH SRY YOU CAN GO HOME NOW" and i'd be crying and trying to find my confirmation emails but THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!
we were going to just hang out in the back by the bar because kat heard that they'd closed off the balcony, but then we realized it was OPEN so we rushed upstairs to get front row on matt's side of the balcony - fantastic view.
(then bear hands happened and no one cared at all.)

1. psycho - THIS SONG IS OFFICIALLY AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE LIVE SET HOLY SHIT. the crowd was so fucking hyped and we were all screaming hysterically and the guys looked SO HAPPY to be playing and it was just fun as FUCK.
2. *matt bellamy falsetto* DEAD INSIIIIIDE - this song is kind of chill actually but that bass is out of control so it was just fun to freak dance and howl along with matt during the bridge.

4. the groove - WHATTTTT!!!! first time played in the u.s. since 2004!
5. madness - and then everyone was disappointed
6. APOCALYPSE PLEASE - lalalive23 and i basically screamed and held each other for the first 30 seconds of this song. hasn't been played AT ALL since 2008 in japan. WHAT THE HELL!!! goddamn it was so great, matt was showboating on the piano and I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT.

8. stockholm syndrome - they need to play this at every show. JUST DO IT, MUSE!!!
9. animals - kind of a nice chill break after the last three songs because we were all dying
10. new born - with piano intro, for once! i love this song. i wish he'd done the slide like he does in the HAARP dvd though :(
11. uprising - always a fun live song because the football hooligan shouting is everything

13. REAPERS - holy shit, y'all. i don't know how dom plays this song without falling down dead. the drums are OUT. OF. CONTROL. i have no idea what matt is saying when he sings but it's a sweet fuckin jam. can't wait for the album to come out!!!

1. BLISS!!!!!!!!!!! - i literally grabbed dolce_piccante by the shoulders and started screaming "IS THIS HAPPENING??? THIS IS HAPPENING!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!" i briefly went into a coma from the sheer joy of it all, like i wanted to cry but i couldn't??? and then kat took this picture of me lmfao:
2. starlight - i love this song, it is important and also i like when matt lets us sing :')
3. man with a harmonica + knights of cydonia - okay dom stretched amazingly during MWAH and i was just like "wow i need to rewind this moment and get it on tape because SHIT SON ARE YOU DOING YOGA????" but also knights is a sick song and a quintessential part of any muse gig and i love it. <3
other little things??
1. i can never understand a goddamn thing matt is saying when he babbles in between songs.
2. dom did his little goodbye at the end and then actually dropped the mic on the stage, lmao. he's the man.
3. matt was so bouncy, shit! he was pogoing across the stage like a 5-year-old on speed. he's so fun to watch.
4. not a whole lot of merch. one men's t-shirt, one women's t-shirt ($35 each), and a hoodie ($75). hoping they'll have diversified their offerings by the time they go on the full tour...
5. i hope the LA crowd gets some more gems from showbiz! we were hoping they'd go with the whole "eliminate the 2nd law from the psycho tour" thing they were doing in the UK for the last couple shows, but alas...
6. no tom sightings! must be home with the baby. :')
