Iron Man 3 Makes Casting Calls and Sets Release Date

The release date for the popular blockbuster, "Iron Man 3" is set for May 3, 2013.

Last week around 40 fans gathered outside the Epic Games office building on Crossroads Boulevard in Cary on Tuesday, during the second day of filming.

Matthew Moyer, an Army mechanic from Fort Bragg, drove to Cary from Fayetteville on Tuesday, to watch filming on the set. Moyer thought he saw “Iron Man” star Robert Downey Jr.’s wife get out of a black SUV earlier in the day and push a stroller with a baby toward the building according to a Cary News report.

Not surprisingly, most of the blockbuster sequel is being filmed around the quaint Wilmington area, known for their studios and sets near the beaches. The movie is also being filmed in Miami and China.

According to locals in the Raleigh area, a casting call for extras was held in April at the Crabtree Valley Mall. The casting call is being handled by the same agency that did the "The Hunger Games" casting call in the state, Tona B. Dahlquist Casting.

The casting call was seeking talent of all ages, types and ethnic backgrounds for the project. Specifically, they mentioned they were looking for:
  • A set of identical twins (male or female) between the ages of 12-14
  • Artsy and/or eccentric types
  • computer geeks
  • Professor types, business professionals (men & women)
  • Upscale preppy types
  • Those with unusual hair, piercing or facial hair

Filming is set to occur over a 10-month period in Wilmington, generating more than $80 million for North Carolina and creating hundreds of jobs according to a past WRAL news report.

The movie's production is expected to create about 550 crew jobs and more than 1,000 talent opportunities.
