Tom Hiddleston is easily regarded as perhaps the best villain performance, and well written antagonist, of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. With his immense depth that at least makes you see the emotional side of the character first, it's easy to see why Hiddleston's Loki was the prime villain inThe Avengers. Though it's said that Loki will play a smaller role in Thor 2, it means that there will be someone stepping in to really cause some havoc. Now, it seems that villain has been found and it's an actor who has faced ever James Bond before.
Variety reports that Mads Mikkelsen is currently in talks to possibly join Thor 2 as a villain alongside Loki in the upcoming sequel. However, his role is currently being kept under wraps. This wouldn't be the first chatter of a villain possibly joining Loki's side, as rumors earlier this week revealed that The Enchantress may have a part to play in Thor 2 as well, but whether or not that will actually happen has yet to be confirmed.
Mikkelsen has balanced Danish and Hollywood films for years now, including Casino Royale, Clash of the Titans, and most recently last year's The Three Musketeers. He's played antagonists in film's for years, but given the high-profile stature of Thor 2, this one may be a large role in the actor's career.
Plot details on the movie are currently pretty slim, but Marvel Studios is looking to start filming in London this summer with director Alan Taylor on board. Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Josh Dallas, Anthony Hopkins, and Jaimie Alexander are all set to reprise their roles from the first film, with more casting announcements scheduled to be made as we get closer to production.
Thor 2 is set for release on November 15th, 2013.
