Terrence Howard has dismissed claims by ex-wife
Michelle Ghentthat he threatened to kill her.
The
Iron Man actor accidentally revealed his
secret wedding to Ghent in May 2010 while being interviewed at the Cannes Film Festival.
However, Ghent
filed for divorce in February 2011 after only one year of marriage.
TMZ reports that Ghent was granted a temporary restraining order on Tuesday after claiming that Howard "constantly beats her and threatens to kill her" and began using physical violence against her only a week after they tied the knot.
She also claimed that Howard chipped her tooth with his wedding ring after slapping her in the face, threatened to throw her off a balcony, threw her to the ground in a parking lot and told her: "If you tell anyone about my personal business, I will kill you and no one will ever know."
Howard has filed a counter-claim in Los Angeles County Superior Court, insisting that Ghent is lying and accusing her of trying to "release private materials to third parties for her own personal financial gain", including an alleged video of him singing naked in the shower.
Ghent's restraining order bans Howard from coming near her or contacting her pending a court appearance.
