A few days ago, we brought you the news that director Patty Jenkins was
dropping out of "Thor 2" due to creative differences. Today, Jenkins spoke to
The Hollywood Reporterabout her decision to leave the project and what her future plans are.
"I have had a great time working at Marvel," she told THR. "We parted on very good terms, and I look forward to working with them again."
Jenkins also said she hoped to return to the superhero genre. “I have a long love of superhero films and I’d been saying over and over to my agents at CAA that I’d like to do one,” she said. “That’s the real revolution. The Marvel guys are so brave in terms of who they choose overall, and I don’t think they had any pause about me being a woman.”
Creative differences or not, it sounds like things are hunky dory between the two parties. Kenneth Branagh, who directed the first "Thor," opted out of directing the sequel some weeks ago, though he too is reportedly on great terms with Marvel Studios.
Now, with production on "Thor 2" moving along quickly due to the sped-up “Avengers” release schedule, the studio will look to quickly replace Jenkins. Check out some of
our choices, like "Moon" director Duncan Jones and "Attack the Block" filmmaker Joe Cornish.
