I think most of it is just by association with Kate. And I think people who care a lot about writing (some members of this comm anyway) get annoyed by the way that so many people think they could be great writers. Like how teachers are always rolling their eyes at people who think they are experts on education because they went to school.

I think it's because of that one interview (I have never actually seen it, only heard people mentioning it) where she supposedly said she used to cry herself to sleep because it was so difficult being beautiful.
